Heart Mate - The pure Botanicals contained in this product have been traditionally used to help support and maintain a healthy heart and cardiovascular system.

The Benefits:

Your Beating Heart:

The role of your heart is to pump oxygen-rich blood to every living cell in the body.

Your heart beats approximately 80 to 100,000 times a day.  It pumps almost 8000 litres of your blood.

Like any complicated and hard working piece of equipment you need to look after it.

Diet and lifestyle are often the major contributors to heart problems.  Cardio Vascular disease kills one Australian every 12 minutes and is largely preventable. (Source: Heart Foundation Australia)

This is really good news - It means we can do something about it.

Pharma Botanica is proud to present Heart Mate.

A unique formulation of six pure botanicals that can help maintain the health of your heart.

Hawthorn Berry - has been shown to improve the pumping action of the heart.

Elacampane - Nourishes your lungs for improved oxygenated blood

Aged Garlic - the world's most respected medicinal plant for thousands of years.

Cramp Barck - As the name suggests - we don't want that heart muscle cramping.

Parsley - High in vitamins,  nutrients and chlorophyll.

Cayenne - to stimulate circulation and breakdown cholesterol.

Heart Mate - The pure Botanicals contained in this product have been traditionally used to help support and maintain a healthy heart and cardiovascular system.

FOODS FOR HEART HEALTH.

What your doctor probably hasn't told you.

HAWTHORN BERRY

The best-known herb for the heart in western herbalism is Hawthorn, which is a small tree or shrub that grows throughout the northern hemisphere.

The pleasant-looking hawthorn is a dense tree with small, sharp thorns growing to 25 feet. It has small white flowers with rose-like petals and bright red berries containing one or two large seeds. Hawthorns are native to Europe, North America and Asia.

In both the East and West, hawthorn has been used for generations as both food and medicine. The current use of hawthorn for heart health dates back to the 17th century, according to the French doctor, Leclerc. Green, an Irish doctor, is known to have used it extensively--though secretly--as a heart remedy.  After he died in 1894, his daughter revealed the famous cure to be a tincture of the ripe berries of a variety of Crataegus species.

It is believed that Hawthorn can increase blood flow to the heart muscle itself.

In pharmacological tests, hawthorn has been shown to improve the contractility of the heart muscle (which can lead to stronger pumping action of the heart), increase cardiac performance and output, lower the peripheral vascular resistance (reducing the workload of the heart), steady the heartbeat (antiarrhythmic effect), as well as increasing the heart's tolerance to oxygen deficiency, such as might happen during stress or excitement, or in diseases where the arteries are partially blocked.  (Evidence Hawthorn Pub Med _ 1 and 2)

It’s a plant that can be added to one's daily dietary regimen when there is any suspicion of problems of cardiovascular issues. If one has a family member who has heart or vascular problems, or for people eating a diet that includes moderate to high levels of fat (especially from dairy products or red meat), or who are stressed or using stimulants (such as coffee), hawthorn could be an excellent support.

All herbal tonics work slowly and gently and should be taken for at least 3 months, up to several years or longer, if needed.

With long-term use, it is believed that hawthorn can help to strengthen and nourish the heart. Here is a summary of the important clinical effects of hawthorn:

1. It can help dilates the arteries that supply the heart muscle itself with blood, oxygen, and fuel, providing a better supply of these essential nutrients. This can result, with continued use, in a stronger, more efficient heart beat.  (Evidence Pub Med _ 2)

2. It acts as a powerful free-radical scavenger, protecting the heart against the harmful effects of lessened oxygen--a common result of vascular conditions, such as blocked arteries. (Evidence Pub Med _ 1)

In this modern age with its times of stress and anxiety, it is reassuring that nature has provided such a gentle yet effective cardiovascular support as hawthorn

GARLIC

Garlic may be the world's most respected medicinal plant--not only does it have thousands of years of historical medicinal usage, but it has also been the subject of numerous research studies published in hundreds of scientific articles, of which there have also been a lot of research studies on the cardiovascular effects of garlic, which represents a major amount of research. (Evidence Attachment “Garlic Trials”)

While garlic's contribution to the health of the heart and cardiovascular system can be significant, many people don't like to eat garlic because of the smell it imparts to their breath. Garlic odors can even exude from the pores of some people when eaten regularly. It seems many people would rather have heart issues than have a lonely heart.

For this reason, and also because of convenience, many people like to get their daily clove or two from garlic capsules or tablets. In Heart Mate we have used the dried clove which doesn’t create an odor and to further assist with odor elimination we have added parsley to the formula for its chlorophyll content. Chlorophyll acts as a deodorizer.

PARSLEY

While we are on Parsley...

Parsley is no longer a garnish that sits on your plate - it contains vital nutrients and vitamins that support the body. Parsley is a rich source of calcium, iron, riboflavin, potassium, thiamine, vitamin A, vitamin C and trace amounts of niacin. The parts of the plant used medicinally in Heart Mate are the whole plant.

Historically, the Greeks held Parsley in high esteem, crowning victors with chaplets of Parsley at the Isthmian games and making it into wreaths for adorning the tombs of their dead. The herb was never brought to table of old, being held sacred to the dead.

During the Middle Ages it was used as a poison antidote.  The high chlorophyll content facilitates utilization of oxygen.

So we now know why these three foods can be of benefit. But there are three more that are important to the health of the heart.

CAPSICUM

Capsicum, aptly described as the plant that "bites back," is a common condiment in certain diets.

The plant grows in warm climates and has been used for decades as a catalyst for the other herbs.

Its red colour is partly due to its high vitamin A content.

The Capsicum family includes Red Peppers, Bell Peppers, Pimento and Paprika, but the most famous medicinal member of this family is the common Cayenne pepper.

Because Capsicum can stimulate circulation and may enhance blood flow, it is traditionally considered a food for the circulatory system and a cardiovascular stimulant.  As such, Capsicum is used in traditional medicine to help assist in lowering blood pressure and breaking down cholesterol buildup.

The warming properties of Capsicum are useful for people suffering from poor circulation to the hands and feet and other related conditions.

There are still two more plants to complete Heart Mate, let’s take a quick look.

ELECAMPANE

The plant's specific name, helenium, derives from Helen of Troy; elecampane is said to have sprung up from where her tears fell. It was sacred to the ancient Celts, and once had the name "elfwort".[2]

John Gerard (1545) was a famous English herbalist of his time recommended elecampane for helping with breathing issues.

Elecampane may also be helpful to patients with cardiovascular issues.

CRAMP BARK

Crampbark as the name suggests is traditionally considered a calmative.  Indigenous to northern United States and Canada; similar variations occur throughout Europe.

So what can we expect from Heart Mate?

The pure Botanicals contained in this product have been traditionally used to help support and maintain a healthy heart and cardiovascular system.

Hawthorn is an excellent cardiotonic. Hawthorn functions by peripheral vasodilation.

Heart Mate can assist very mild dilation of coronary vessels, increased enzyme metabolism in the heart muscle, and increased oxygen utilization by the heart.

Heart Mate can be taken daily as a supplement to help maintain your heart’s fitness and maintain healthy blood circulation.

Important Information

Important Information

At Pharma Botanica we earn your trust three steps at a time.

Step One: Raw Material Sourcing. At Pharma Botanica we believe the medicinal plant is a it’s potent when it is sourced from it’s country of origin. We scour the world acquiring only the best ingredients.

Step Two: Formulas that are efficacious. Our staff science team formulates our products with a relentless commitment to ingredient purity and potency. That’s why our customers trust Pharma Botanica medicinals to deliver proven, repeatable results.

Step Three: Pharmaceutical Grade manufacturing Pharma Botanica products are made at a TGA (Therapeutic Goods Administration) approved and audited facility, under conditions and guidelines that meet the most stringent global regulation.

We have a strong belief, here at Pharma Botanica, that nature has always provided us with the answers.

There is no need to alter or concentrate what the planet already grows for us in abundant supply to keep us and, other living creatures healthy. We also share DNA with plants.

The use of medicinal herbs for human healing can be traced back as far as 8,000 B.C during the stone age. Even Chimpanzees have been seen to self-select medicinal herbs for relief of disease.

Herbalism is the natural therapy of choice for people concerned with the preservation of the whole planet. Humanity itself exists in the context of the entire planet. All these levels work together in a dynamic integrated system.

It seems clear that many health issues are connected with cultural and ecological problems and often reflect our alienation from nature and “natural” lifestyles.

Herbalism can play a major role in bridging this separation. With its reverence for life and the relationship it establishes between plants and people, herbalism is close to the heart of the greener vision that is slowly but surely changing our cultural world view.

However, there arises an unfortunate 20th century dilemma for the phytotherapist.

Some of the primary remedies for our health, used by our ancestors of previous centuries are now seriously endangered species.

All Pharma Botanica products contain pure plants and not chemically derived extracts equivalent to the herb. By encouraging the commercial cultivation of herbs, we can ensure their survival.

Welcome to Pharma Botanica and congratulations on taking the first step to a healthier and happier you.

My thanks for Heart Mate

What I thought to be an unusual combination for a Heart Tonic has proved to be the very best for me. Both Hawthorn and Elecampane have traditionally been associated with emotional issues as well as physical. I have had a lot of children as well as experiencing extended traumas and grief which are all a strain on the heart and lungs. Both Hawthorn and Elecampane are tonic herbs that show their strengths through long term use. After a couple of months I can feel strength in my heart and lungs where as before I struggled with heart problems and breathlessness often.
